Pricey (pricey.co.za) is a South African grocery price comparison service. We help shoppers find the best prices across major SA retailers. References to "Pricey", "we", "us" or "our" refer to the Pricey service and its operators.

2. Information we collect

We collect the following information only when you choose to provide it:

  • Phone number — when you set a WhatsApp price alert
  • Email address — when you set an email price alert (optional)
  • Search queries — product searches you make on our platform

We do not collect names, addresses, payment information, or any other personal data beyond what is listed above.

3. How we use your information

  • To send you WhatsApp or email notifications when a price alert is triggered
  • To improve our search results and product matching
  • To understand which products are most searched for in South Africa

We never sell, rent or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes.

4. WhatsApp messaging

If you interact with Pricey via WhatsApp, your messages are processed by our automated bot. We use the Meta WhatsApp Business API to send and receive messages. Your phone number is stored securely in our database solely to deliver price alerts you have requested.

You can opt out of WhatsApp alerts at any time by replying STOP to any message from Pricey.

5. Data storage

Your data is stored securely on servers hosted by Supabase (PostgreSQL) in the United States. We apply industry-standard security measures to protect your information from unauthorised access.

6. Data retention

Price alert records are kept until you cancel the alert or it is triggered. Search query logs are retained for a maximum of 90 days.

7. Your rights

Under POPIA (South Africa) and applicable privacy laws, you have the right to:

  • Request access to the personal information we hold about you
  • Request correction or deletion of your personal information
  • Withdraw consent at any time

8. Cookies

Pricey uses minimal cookies required for the site to function (session state only). We do not use tracking or advertising cookies.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via our website. Continued use of Pricey after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
